Memory! Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
30 April 2020—10 May 2021
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory Day, the Russian Museum announced an exhibition called "Memory! Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" which will be held in the Benois Wing.
The exhibition will include paintings, sculptures and graphics created from 1945 to the end of the 2010s, revealing the perception of the war and the fates of its participants in the memory of different generations - veteran artists and contemporary young authors. Many of the artists (E.E. Moiseenko, A.A. Mylnikov, V.I. Ivanov, Y.M. Neprintsev, G.A. Savinov, M.K. Anikushin and others) had firsthand knowledge about this war. Other artists, especially the younger generation, know about the war only from stories - мore interesting is their interpretation of war events. The exhibition will be supplemented by priceless materials of the war: letters, family photos and other items that also keep the memory of this heroic and tragic time.

The exposition, based on the thematic principle, is located in three halls of the Benois Wing, each with a special name for the period of the exhibition: "War", "Victory", "Memory". This exhibition project will make it possible to rethink the memory of the war years, their role in the history of millions of people and their families. The exhibition will open to visitors once all restrictions related to the pandemic will be lifted and will take place in rooms 83, 84 and 85 of the Benois Wing.
