The exhibition consists of two parts. The first part demonstrates the traditional art from the XVIII century to the 1st half of the XX century. The artworks by the most prominent Russian artists such as Ivan Aivazovsky, Fyodor Vasilyev, Alexei Savrasov, Ilya Repin, Illarion Pryanishnikov, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Konstantin Korovin, Vasily Surikov, Isaac Levitan, Aleksandr Benois, Mikhail Nesterov, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Victor Borisov-Musatov, Aleksandr Deyneka, Arkady Plastov are shown.
The artworks by contemporary artists from Saint-Petersburg, Siberia and Nizhny Novgorod are presented in the second part of the exhibition. The viewers have the opportunity for getting acquainted with names of young artists, the artworks by which are not housed in the Russian Museum.
The exhibition is supplemented with the original sound and video accompanying.

Unique in its scope and diversity of genres, the exhibition is dedicated to the heroic feat of Leningrad defenders and residents during the siege. The exhibition includes over 200 works of painting, graphic art and sculpture, mainly created in the besieged Leningrad and shown for the first time.
