The main purpose of the exhibition devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is to show the facts of war through the eyes of its witnesses and participants in painting, graphic works and sculpture that had been created during those years. The exhibition shows the works of such artists as G. Vereisky, A. Deineka, P. Konchalovsky, P. Kotov, Kukryniksyi, V. Lishev, D. Mochalsky, V. Mukhina, Y. Nikolaev, A.Pakhomov, Y. Pimenov, A. Rusakov, V. Pakulin, I. Serebryanyi, I.Toidze, A.Yar-Kravchenko and others.

The exhibition also comprises studies, sketches, photographs and fragments of documentary chronicles that captured the true atmosphere of the war.

Vyacheslav Pakulin, endowed with a unique, striking talent, in 1920s and 1930s was caught up by the search for a "great style", paying tribute to the common aspirations of many artists of the post-revolutionary period. The first personal exhibition of the artist in the Russian Museum is aimed to fully present his searches and discoveries in the field of painting, graphics and theatrical art.
