The main theme of this exhibition, which consists of works of painting, sculpture and graphics of XVI-XX cc. from collection of the Russian museum, will be relationship between two. Antinomies that form dialectic of human life (like love and hatred, youth and old age, good and evil, friendship and enmity, gift and mediocrity) were transferred to art with inevitable constancy and determined plots of the great majority of masterpieces of the world fine art. At the exhibition in the Benoi wing various problems of relationship between people will be shown by such canvases as On the eve of Annunciation by M.Nesterov, Persey and Andromeda by K.Brullov, Harlequin and his Lady by K.Somov, A Kiss by F.Moller, Wrestlers by N.Goncharova, Petre I is interrogating zarevich Alexey by N.Ge. Sometimes the same themes or images can be seen in their development. For instance, saints Boris and Gleb are shown both in the icon of XVI c. and in the picture by N.Rerikh. Besides, canvas of V.Borovikovsky, A.Venezianov, A.Ivanov, N.Yaroshenko, B.Kustodiev, P.Kusnezov, K.Malevich, G.Serebryakova, and many many other brilliant Russian artists will be showcased at the exhibition. The exhibition is held as a part of IV International winter festival 'Ploshad Iskusstv' (Square of Arts)
