The publication acquaints with the oeuvre of the well-known Soviet artist. The works by Alexander Labas are marked by the poetical apprehension of the phenomenon of technical progress and modern urbanized world. The book comprises a scientific article where the specific features of the artist’s plastic and image decision of works are investigated in context of the Soviet culture of the after-revolutionary decade and aesthetics of the Society of Easel Painters that played the principal role in the following evolution of his art. The album section presents painting and graphic works and theatre sketches created by the artist in the 1920’s – 1950’s. The publication is supplemented with statements of the artist’s contemporaries and biography of Alexander Labas.
