This publication is prepared for the birth anniversary of one of the most eminent masters of the Russian painting and acquaints reader with the works by Mikhail Nesterov that reflected the most significant tendencies in the Russian Art and spiritual life of the end of the 19th – first third of the 20th century. The album section is divided into five thematic sections. Each of them is opened with the articles that contain detailed analysis of peculiarities of creative searches of the artist in context of the Russian culture of the 1880’s – 1930’s; his experience in monumental art; pictorial trilogy devoted to the Holy Russia; images of philosophers and religious activists that where created on the turning point of the historical epochs, and portraits of the after-revolutionary time. The publication is supplemented with detailed information on biography of Mikhail Nesterov.
