Family Portrait
25 November 2017—25 February 2018
The exhibition at the Belgorod Art Museum provides an insight into the development of the family portrait genre in Russian art through the ages: from couple portraits by V. L. Borovikovsky, sentimental family scenes by G. Dawe, F. G. Toropov, and N. N. Ge, to optimistic paintings of the Soviet era by V. I. Ivanov, A. A. Mylnikov, and K. S. Petrov-Vodkin.

The artworks from the collection of the State Russian Museum, created over 300 years, demonstrate family values and convey the particular features of the everyday life, traditions, and customs of the time, allowing to observe not only the historical shifts but also changes in relationships between people.

The exhibition is organized with the support of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation as part of the ART-OKNO Festival.

The exhibition is open until February 25, 2018.

For the Glory of Russia. Entrepreneurs and Patrons in Russia in the 18th – Early 20th Centuries

6 June—5 August 2024

Merchants, the “third estate”, at that time, were the basis of Russia’s economic power. The Stroganovs, the Demidovs and other entrepreneurs sometimes established entire “empires” with their own settlements, roads and internal regulations. The richest merchants became nobles and patrons of the arts. The exhibition is unique, both in the themes it explores and in the works it presents.
