Sciarsism & Sciarsists

Sergey Dozhd. Proof of Dostoyevsky's formula
26 June 2019—5 August 2019

The international exhibition “Sciarsism & Sciarsists” shows the works by 15 Russian and foreign authors representing the eponymous art movement. Sergey Dozhd, the founder of Sciarsism, defines it as the science of the inner artistic space, and the term itself is composed of the words “science” and “art”. In Sciarsism, the practice of visual art is inseparable from its theory, the strategy of the new style being tactically supported by works in painting, graphics, installation and video art. The principal idea behind Sciarsism is that for the first time in a hundred years, the inner space of art has become understandable for both artists and viewers.

The exhibition will present the works of contemporary artists made over the past few years, illustrating and developing the theory of Sciarsism in various techniques and art forms. Artists: Edward Bekkerman (USA), Ines Berlin (Germany), Ulrike Bolenz (Germany, Belgium), Franco Viola (Italy), Jeanne Grac (Germany), Sergey Denisov (Russia), Sergey Dozhd (Russia), Nikolina Kovalenko ( USA), Ivan Kolesnikov (Russia), Mally Khorasantchi (Germany, USA), Valery Kuznetsov (Russia), Alexander Pankin (Russia), Viktor Popov (Germany), Evgeny Semenov (Russia), Konstantin Khudyakov (Russia).

30 paintings from the life of Peter the Great

9 June 2022—9 August 2022

The exhibition “30 paintings from the life of Peter the Great” is taking place on the Field of Mars in Saint Petersburg. The project is a reconstruction of an exhibit that was held 150 years ago at the same location and is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the first Russian emperor. Fourteen original paintings from the 1872 exhibition were discovered in the State Russian Museum’s funds. They were digitally restored and will be exhibited in the form of outstanding quality canvas prints. The honour to fill the gaps and create modern interpretations of the same historical subjects was granted to the students, alumni and professors of Saint-Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts.
