The exhibition of the Moscow painter Aron Bukh (1923 — 2006) is the first demonstration of his works in Saint-Petersburg and one of the largest posthumous exibitions of the master. The exposition includes the paintings of the earliest and latest periods of his life, that come from

the collection of the «Expo-88» gallery and private collections.

At the exhibition will be presented all genres of painting, which the master worked with: still life, landscape, «city fantasy», nudes, self-portraits. The components of the Aron Bukh?s unique style are the bright palette of the clear colours and the pastose manner of painting. The works of the mature period are characterized by energetic unruly of the colours, that are put with courageous dabs. Bukh painted, as if he maid a sculpture, he used no palette, didn?t mix the paints on canvas, he applied them with wide brush, with palette knife, with flat brush, with hands. Sometimes the painting contains ten sheets. On the exhibition will be shown three lifetime films about Aron Bukh. They give the unique opportunity to see the work of the painter with the canvas.

The exhibition is organized by the gallery «Expo-88».

In July 2023, an explosion in the city centre of Taganrog damaged several artworks at the Golden Names of the Silver Age exhibition in the Taganrog Art Museum. The Russian Museum offered immediate support with the restoration of 22 art pieces. During the restoration, which lasted over 6 months, the staff of the Russian Museum not only eliminated the mechanical damage that the art objects had received at the time of the explosion, but also completely restored all 22 masterpieces, revealing their original appearance and artistic concept.
