The decorative frames collection of the Russian Museum counts several thousands exhibits and is one of the best in our country. It started when the first works were acquired to the museum (the Russian Museum of the Emperor Alexander III at that time). The collection represents nearly all the periods of frame industry development in Russia since the first half of the 18^th century till nowadays. This first ever held in Russia exhibition of decorative frames will showcase some 100 unique works of art, including what is called "author's frames" (the ones which were created of chosen by painters themselves). Many works of decorative and applied art showcased have never been exhibited before. A catalogue for the exhibition has been published.

Parallel Universes. From Abstraction to Artefact. The Collection of Natalia Opaleva

The State Russian Museum presents the exhibition project Parallel Universes. From Abstraction to Artefact showing works by 36 artists of the second half of the 20th century from the collection of Natalia Opaleva, a well-known collector, founder and general director of the AZ Museum (Anatoly Zverev). The exhibition introduces visitors of the Marble Palace to more than 200 paintings and graphic works by underground masters of the 1960s–1980s: Anatoly Zverev, Dmitri Plavinsky, Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Oleg Tselkov, Lidia Masterkova and Ernst Neizvestny.
