3 March 2005—11 April 2005
This first St Petersburg personal exhibition of one of the well-known Moscow artists of the 1970s - Natalya Nesterova - introduces 60 of her works of painting. Natalya Nersterova works in a brutal and highly original manner. Flowers, music, games, repasts are combined in the artist's oeuvre with the scenes of the life of Jesus, metaphorical images of birds and fish. Natalya Nesterova was born in Moscow. In 1962, she graduated from the Moscow art school, and in 1968 - from the Surikov Moscow Art Institute. The member of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Honoured Artist of Russia, Natalya Nesterova was awarded the Triumph prize in 2002; and in 2004 she was praised with an Honorary golden medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist has taken part in more than 60 personal and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Her simplified world of figurative painting centered around the image of man distinguishes her oeuvre from that of many other contemporary artists.

For the Glory of Russia. Entrepreneurs and Patrons in Russia in the 18th – Early 20th Centuries

6 June—5 August 2024

Merchants, the “third estate”, at that time, were the basis of Russia’s economic power. The Stroganovs, the Demidovs and other entrepreneurs sometimes established entire “empires” with their own settlements, roads and internal regulations. The richest merchants became nobles and patrons of the arts. The exhibition is unique, both in the themes it explores and in the works it presents.
