The retrospective exhibition of one of the most prominent artists of the Soviet realistic landscape presents to the public around 70 works from the collection of the Russian Museum, the artist's family and private collections.
Nikolai Romadin was born in 1903 in Samara. In 1922 he studied in Art Training School of Samara, from 1923 to 1930 studied under Robert Falk in the Higher Art and Technical Studios (VKHUTEMAS) in Moscow. Romadin participated in exhibitions since 1924 (over 200 group exhibitions in the Soviet Union and other countries, including Venice Biennale-1956). Since 1938 he regularly traveled over Russia (Volga River, Karelia, Archangelsk, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Tver and Pskov Regions, Middle Asia and Crimea) and abroad. Romadin is the laureate of multiple state prizes, People's artist of USSR, Honored member of Academy of Arts of USSR. In 1981 his self-portrait was donated to the Uffizi Gallery (Florence).

The exhibition presents the fundamental stages of Nikolai Romadin's oeuvre from early portraits, genre paintings and studies of the pre-war time to intimate as well as epic images of Russian nature in the works of 1960-1970-ies.
