International Conference "Museum and Education: Context and prospects of cooperation"

18-20 of November 2015 international conference "Museum and Education: Context and prospects of cooperation" which dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Russian Centre of museum pedagogics and children's creativity department will take place in the Russian Museum.

The three days conference will present a number of issues: art education and creative development of the person, the responsibilities of the contemporary museum professionals, information and communication technologies in the arts and art education of the XXI century. Also it will be discussed criteria for evaluating the processes and outcomes of arts education and creative development in the museum environment.
Among the participants are: Lynn Russell, director of the Education Department, National Gallery (Washington, USA), Manon Potvan, director of educational programs, Louvre (Paris, France), Antonio Chiesa, curator of the Tate Gallery (London, UK), Anna Tsvetkova, PR Deputy Director, Russian Museum, Alexander Roshchin, Head of Social Research, State Hermitage, Irina Frolova, head of the methodological department, GBUK Moscow “GMZ “Tsaritsyno Park”.

The conference will include a presentation of project « East guardhouse - the territory of the creative confidence» which intend for children. The authors are specialists of «Russian Centre of museum pedagogics and children's creativity».  The project consists of several interactive zones, located on three floors. Cognitive area includes books, teaching materials, games and multimedia equipment: interactive whiteboard, the demonstration plasma panels, interactive table. Artistic zone artistic is equipped with multifunctional furniture, art and educational materials designed for children of different ages. Finally, the leisure zone - an informal, which is also included in the Hall of mass communications, workshops and showrooms.

The conference includes the exhibition «Earth - the planet of creativity», which is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Foundation of children's creativity of the Russian Museum, and a seminar «Children's work in the museum: questions of museology, psychology and creative activity». Participants will be invited to discussion about preservation, study and exhibition of children's drawings, as well as the specifics of the museum's studios.

The conference is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Education, the Committee on Culture of the Government of St. Petersburg, the Education Committee of St. Petersburg Government and the Union of Museums of Russia. The conference opening ceremony will take place in the White Hall of the Mikhailovsky (Engineers') Castle at 10.00 a.m. 18 of November.
