Crimea in the Works by A.I.Kuindzhi

A. I. Kuindzhi. Ai-Petri. Crimea. 1890s
22 March 2019—10 June 2019
The Russian Museum has a number of works by Kuindzhi painted in Crimea. They were all received as donations from the Kuindzhi Society. In them, we can trace the artist’s painterly explorations and discoveries while he investigated relationships between colours and contrast, how to depict the changes in the atmosphere that occur throughout the day, fog, and sunsets.

The exhibition, held in the Garden Vestibule of the Mikhailovsky Palace, contains selected canvases by Kuindzhi dedicated to nature in Crimea. In them, as in his artistic legacy as a whole, the artist was able to convey the diversity of beauty and the eternal in nature, as seen by his rapturous eyes.
