On March 19, 1898 in the Mikhailovsky Palace in the name of the emperor Alexander III has opened the State Russian Museum - the first state museum of national art.Today it is the world's largest museum of the Russian art, a unique most beautiful architectural complex from palaces and gardens in the heart of our city.
Collections of the museum contain more than 400 thousand exhibits and cover all historical periods and tendencies of development of the Russian art, his main types and genres, the directions and schools with X on the XXI century.
On March 19, 2017 the entrance to the all the palaces of the Museum will be free.
The Mikhailovsky Palace and the Benois Wing will be open till 20.00.
