BIRGIT FREYBE BATEMAN: MINDFUL VISION (Canada)

Fishing Nets #1 Cambodia. 2009. Paper, giclee. 12.25x20 inches
1 June 2011—30 September 2011
The exhibition presents the сreative oeuvre of the contemporary Canadian photographer Birgit Freybe Bateman. The photographs that the artist made in numerous journeys about Canada and trips to different countries of the world (Italy, Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Butane, India and others), give the viewer an opportunity to appreciate Bateman's high skill and originality of interpretation of her Mindful Vision. The content of her works is not a concrete subject but the plastic motifs dictated by the expressive forms of objects, fragments and details commemorated by the photo lens. Unexpected angles and increased attention to color and especially texture draw a similarity between Bateman's photographs and oil painting, that gives the viewer opportunity to see the extraordinary and the unique even in motifs that are imperceptible at first sight.
