From the XIX century the Bogorodskaya toy and sculpture were presented on the exhibitions constantly and from that period of time they became popular. The toy mainly had a secular character. The Bogorodskaya toy was close to aesthetics of cheap popular prints, lithography and folk art theatre. Figures of hard-working men and good-natured bears in fairy tails carved from wood reflect nation’s character and soul. Simple movement mechanisms increase the special liveliness.
The events in social life, replacement of tsar’s persons and wars enlarged the tiny peace of Bogorodskaya toy by various characters for all tastes.
In spite of commercial demand, that doesn’t coincided with the creative criterions of folk art, now the uniqueness of trade of Bogorodskoye are kept mainly in renowned carved traditional toys.
