For the Russian Museum, the festival has a special significance in addressing such cultural and educational tasks as fostering interest in historical territories and reviving the traditions of Russian garden and park art.

In the year 315th anniversary of St. Petersburg, celebration of landscape art and flower decor will once again bring together the best florists, artists, designers and decorators on the banks of the Neva River, who will decorate with their compositions alleys, fountains, ponds and Bosch of the Summer Garden. In the festival program: concerts, botanical lectures and excursions, photo exhibition "Blossoming Heritage", floristry master classes, fashion shows, photo contest and other events.

Imperial Gardens of Russia is today the only festival of its kind in Northwest Russia. The starting point was 2008, the year the 110th anniversary of the Russian Museum was celebrated. The main organizer then was the Russian Museum itself with support from the Prince Michael of Kent Foundation and the Union of Horticulturists of Russia. Today, the celebration stands among other famous landscaping events around the world such as the Chelsea Flower Show, London; Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, England; and the International Garden Festival in Chaumont-sur-Loire, France.

In 2013, the exhibition was awarded the Highest Russian Award from the Russian National Prize for Landscape Architecture in the category “Event of the Year”, and in 2014, it took first place in the final of the National Prize in the Sphere of Cultural Tourism, the Russian Event Awards, in the category “Best Project in the Cultural Sphere”.
