Anti-corruption activity

Below is an extract from the Federal Anti-Corruption Law No. 273-FL dated December 25, 2008:

Corruption is defined as the abuse of official position, active and/or passive bribery, abuse of authority, commercial bribery or any other illegal and unauthorised use by an individual of their official position in violation of legitimate and lawful interests of the society and state for the purposes of reaping the benefits in the form of money, valuables, any other property or property-related services, any other property rights in favour of themselves or third parties, or illegal granting of such a benefit to the afore-mentioned individual by other individuals.

Anti-Corruption activities are defined as the activities carried out by federal state governmental authorities, by state governmental authorities of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, by local self-governing authorities, civil society institutions, organizations, and individuals acting within the limits of their competence and powers; anti-corruption activities are aimed at the following:

  • to prevent corruption, including the activities intended for identification and further elimination of corruption factors (Corruption management);
  • to detect, prevent, restrain, reveal and investigate corruption offences (anti-corruption efforts);
  • to mitigate and/or to relieve the consequences of corruption offences.
