Established on March 19, 1997

As a member of the Society, you support preservation and increase of the Russian Museum Collection.

THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM AS A Treasury of National Fine Arts

The Russian Museum is the first National State Museum of Russian Fine Arts –at present it is a unique depository of cultural values, it numbers over 400 000 exhibits, it covers all historical periods and tendencies of Russian Art development, its main forms and genres, trends and schools for over than 1 000 years: from X to XXI centuries.

The Museum collection includes works of artists – constituting fame and pride of Russian Fine Arts – Andrey Rublev, Dionisius, F.Shubin, D.Levitsky, V.Borovikovsky, I.Martos, K.Briullov, F.Bruni, O.Kiprensky, Alexander Ivanov,P.Fedotov, A.Venetsianov, V. Vereschagin, I,Aivazovsky, I.Repin, A.Kuindzhy,I.Shishkin, V.Serov, M.Vrubel. P.Antokolsky, B.Kustodiev, M.Nesterov, K.Malevich, V.Kandinsky, M.Chagall, P.Filonov, K. Petrov-Vodkin and others.

Nowadays, The Russian Museum complex includes Mikhailovsky, Marble and Stroganoff Palaces, Mikhailovsky (Engineer) Castle, as well as The Summer Garden, The Mikhailovsky and Engineer gardens – distinguished memorials of landscape art of XVIII – XIX centuries.

In 1992, according to The President of The Russian Federation Decree (№ 558 of 05.06.92), The State Russian Museum is referred to especially valuable objects of the Russian Nation cultural legacy.

On March 19, 1997, on the threshold of The Museum Centenary, International Society “Friends of the Russian Museum” was established.

International Society “Friends of the Russian Museum” unites everybody, who is ready to render a feasible support in realization of scientific, educational, conservation, exhibiting and other Russian Museum programs and projects.

Your entrance fee will become a contribution to the generous deed of preservation, research and increase of invaluable treasures of Russia, preserved in the Russian Museum collections.

The Russian Museum will receive with gratitude any kind of support you or your firm can give not as direct financing only, but as service discount, technical services, equipment and materials supplies, building-repair works, advertisement-informational support, and the like.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE SOCIETY IS RESUMED ANNUALLY

and it gives not only an opportunity for different privileges, but permits to become a valuable participant of the Museum life.
