Circus: an opening of the exhibition

On 17 of March the exhibition "Circus" is opened in the Benois Wing.

The major exhibition in the Russian Museum presents the pieces of art dedicated to the circus of the XIX-XX centuries for the first time. Among the artists who were inspired by this subject are A. Benois, S. Sudeikin, A. Shevchenko, S. Dymshits-Tolstaya, I. Puni, A. Jakovlev, V. Shukhaev, M. Shemiakin, A.Agabekov, N. Nesterova, K, Simun, I. Tarasiuk and others.

The exhibition comprises paintings, graphic works, sculptures and pieces of decorative and applied art from the Russian Museum and artists' workshops and also unique historic materials from the collection of St. Petersburg Museum of Circus Art.

The fantasy costumes are made by artist Alyona Kogan.
