The edition to the same name exposition in the State Historical Museum in Moscow exposes the theme of the peasantry in the fine art in such a scope for the first time. It includes brief articles about the role of the peasantry in Russia, traditions, culture, art and morals of a man living on earth and presents the peasantry art as the most valuable part of the country's legacy.
Not only various sides of peasantry life but also the folk art's influence on different generations of artists especially Russian Avant-Guard masters who are presented in the collections of the Russian Museum, are reflected in the edition.
The best and the most significant masterpieces of the peasantry art, icons, works of professional painters, graphic artists, sculptors from the XVIII-th century till the 1970-s and photos form the album part of the edition. Some of them hadn't been exhibited before. The edition is supplemented with the names' index and brief artists' biographies.
