The issue that is prepared to the exhibition in the State Russian Museum is devoted to the Russian Art on the turning point of its development. The issue includes the scientific articles regarding the situation in the Russian culture in the context of the political and spiritual life on the boarder of the 20th and 21 centuries. The special articles are devoted to the so-called soviet experience in the new situation, to the characteristic features of the embodiment of the religious subjects in the art of the 1985–2000’s, and to the continuation of the principles of the abstract painting and to the fates of the easel painting in this time. The special section includes the articles about the sculptures of this period where the creative oeuvre of such artists as V.Sidur, V.Danilov, L.Shulgina and the others and the activity of the Village of Artists art group and the abstract trend in the sculpture are analyzed. The album section is divided into eight thematic parts. The issue is supplemented with the chronology of events of the 1985–2000 years, and with the short artist’s biographies.
