This book is devoted to the work of the contemporary Petersburg artist, who since the 1960s has been an outstanding example of Leningrad non-conformism. The album of illustrations, which contains four sections ("Valaam Sketches from 1974"; "Painting"; "Pastels, Drawings"; "Masks, Dolls, Sculpture") that are preceded by two scholarly articles, where Yury Kryakvin's artistic journey is examined in the context of the situation in Leningrad non-conformism from the 1960s through the 1980s and contemporary Russian art. Special attention is paid to his artistic decisions in his paintings and graphic compositions that deal with a wide range of life events. The above is supplemented by a short biography of the artist.
