This book is an introduction to the work of the famous Russian artist, a representative of the Seventies generation. It contains an album with illustrations and scholarly articles. Through these, the artist's unique understanding of the world is revealed and the evolution of the language of his paintings is examined, using his most well-known works as an example. These works refer to the traditions of Italian and Northern Renaissance art, as well as the aesthetics of Russian folk art. The articles and the album are supplemented by remarks by the artist's friends and colleagues on different aspects of his work. Biographical information about the artist is provided.
