We Never Forget! On the 80th Anniversary of Complete Liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi Siege

Unique in its scope and diversity of genres, the exhibition is dedicated to the heroic feat of Leningrad defenders and residents during the siege. The exhibition includes over 200 works of painting, graphic art and sculpture, mainly created in the besieged Leningrad and shown for the first time.

The title of the exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Department of Technological Research reflects the essence of its work: to study what, how, when and by whom certain works were created. The exposition gives an idea of what results such research methods as microscopy, radiography, study in the infrared and ultraviolet regions of the spectrum, X-ray fluorescence analysis can bring.

A Photographic Perspective on St. Petersburg

The exhibition completes the contest organized in cooperation with the Professional Photocenter Foto-One. Photographers were offered to show their view on St. Petersburg without any limitations in technique, genre, or style. The professional jury chose 97 works inspired by this unique city. Gaga Kovenchuk - Georgy Vasilievich Kovenchuk (1933-2015) was born in Leningrad. Kovenchuk graduated from the graphic faculty of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin (Alexei Pahomov's studio). His grandfather, Nicolai Kulbin was a prominent figure in art world, a theoretician of the Russian avant-garde. Kovenchuk's life is organically interlinked with artistic life of St. Petersburg with many connecting lines.
