The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and with the first of the cross years of culture between the countries. The outstanding contemporary master of calligraphy professor Liu Hongsheng is also referred to as an “ambassador of happy calligraphy.” The exhibition is aimed at introducing this ancient art, which is a significant part of the traditional spiritual culture of China, to Russian audience.

Artist Viktor Ivanov celebrates his 100th birthday on 2 August 2024. Being one of the most brilliant painters of the severe style in Soviet art, he is faithful to the ideals that served as the basis of his work in the 1960s. As before, his paintings feature hard workers and events in which the artist sees the continuation of Russian national spiritual traditions.

The exhibition “30 paintings from the life of Peter the Great” is taking place on the Field of Mars in Saint Petersburg. The project is a reconstruction of an exhibit that was held 150 years ago at the same location and is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the first Russian emperor. Fourteen original paintings from the 1872 exhibition were discovered in the State Russian Museum’s funds. They were digitally restored and will be exhibited in the form of outstanding quality canvas prints. The honour to fill the gaps and create modern interpretations of the same historical subjects was granted to the students, alumni and professors of Saint-Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts.

The exhibition was prepared for the 200th anniversary of one of the most famous and frequently cited Russian writers - Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881).
His training at the Engineering School (in the 1840s), located in the Mikhailovsky (Engineering) Castle (now a branch of the Russian Museum), is an excellent occasion for the Russian Museum to pay tribute to the memory of one of the authors of the Petersburg myth by presenting an exposition of works from the museum collection in honor of this anniversary.
Pavel Stroganov: Italian Journey

Count Pavel Sergeevich Stroganov (1823-1911), traveling with his family in Italy in 1839-1841, captured the image of this country in numerous drawings, which were considered the works of an unknown master until recently. At the exhibition in the halls of the palace that belonged to the Stroganovs, the Russian Museum will show 60 wonderful drawings from its collection for the first time and comment in a multimedia show how their research was carried out, which made it possible to prove the authorship of Count Pavel Stroganov.
Portraits of Count Nikolai Sheremetev: New Revelations

Amerling was one of the best masters of children’s portrait of his time. The portrait of the little Count Sheremetev discovered in the State Russian Museum is the only work of the master in Russia so far. The exhibition will feature portraits of Nikolai Sheremetev made by various artists in various techniques - painting, miniature, sculpture, original and printed graphics from the collection of the State Russian Museum, the Ostankino Estate Museum (Moscow), the State Historical Museum, and the collection of T. A. Udras (Moscow).
A Photographic Perspective on St. Petersburg

Photographers were offered to show their view on St. Petersburg without any limitations in technique, genre, or style. The professional jury chose 97 works inspired by this unique city.
