The high technology interactive exposition "Our Romantic Emperor" located on three floors of the Western Pavilion of St. Michael's Castle is devoted to Paul I, the author and owner of the ensemble of St. Michael's Castle. "Petersburg of Paul I" and the history of building of St. Michael's Castle, an interactive book about the foreign travels of Grand Duke Paul Petrovich and a kinect quiz, a virtual fitting room and 3D modelling used "to enter" in the painting of Martin Ferdinand Quadal "The Coronation of Paul I and Maria Fyodorovna" creates an opportunity for a deep and fascinating immersion in the epoch of the late 18th century.

For the Glory of Russia. Entrepreneurs and Patrons in Russia in the 18th – Early 20th Centuries

6 June—5 August 2024

Merchants, the “third estate”, at that time, were the basis of Russia’s economic power. The Stroganovs, the Demidovs and other entrepreneurs sometimes established entire “empires” with their own settlements, roads and internal regulations. The richest merchants became nobles and patrons of the arts. The exhibition is unique, both in the themes it explores and in the works it presents.
