Museum for children


The Russian Museum is the leading center of museum pedagogy in the country, which systematically carrying out the work with children and teenagers from 4 to 17 years. It is the sole museum in Russia, which has the license for educational activity.

Working with children in the Russian Museum:

  • Russian Centre of Museum Pedagogy and Children's Creativity works with the children, youth audiences, teachers of preschool educational institutions, university students and museum staff. In 2015, Children's Art Foundation celebrated its 55th anniversary, and the Russian Centre of museum pedagogy and children's creativity celebrated the 25th anniversary. Every year about 400 schoolchildrens and 200 childrens from kindergartens are engaged in studios, clubs and creative groups of the Center.

  • Museum art therapy - a method of psychological-pedagogical work, which use the possibilitys of fine arts and museum's environment in order to achieve positive changes in the emotional, intellectual and personal development of man. Since the early 1990s this method is developed by specialists of the Russian Museum .
