The exhibition About the Motherland. About Life. About Us. Artistic Heritage of the Belgorod Region features selected paintings and sculptures created in the late 1940s – early 1990s from the collection of the Belgorod State Art Museum. The public can enjoy works by Sergei Gerasimov, Yury Pimenov, Alexander Laktionov, Georgy Ryazhsky, Pyotr Ossovsky and other masters of Soviet art.
The Belgorod State Art Museum was founded in 1983, which determined the contents of the collection that includes splendid works by Russian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The artworks of the second half of the 20th century are presented most fully in the collection.
The exhibition enables the audience to trace the development of the Russian art school beginning with the post-war period, namely from the late 1940s when people returned to a peaceful life, followed by the time of change in the 1950s and 1960s, the mid-1960s and 1970s which gave birth to a number of the severe style masters, and finishing with the 1980s and early 1990s when artists and sculptors’ oeuvre reflected global changes in the life of the country.
As a member of the Association of Russian Art Museums, the Russian Museum strives to introduce regional museum collections to the residents and visitors of St Petersburg so that they could familiarise themselves with a variety of works of the highest artistic quality revealing different sides of Russian art.
The exhibition is organised to show solidarity with colleagues and people from the Belgorod Region who demonstrate their courage and fortitude in tough times.
Pop Mechanics by Sergei Kuryokhin

The exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Sergei Kuryokhin, a musician, composer, screenwriter and actor, founder of the legendary Pop Mechanics band that became one of the most important cultural phenomena of the second half of the 20th century.
