Vitaliy Pushnizkiy. INTROSPECTION

V.Pushnizkiy was born in 1967. He lives and works in St.Petersburg. The artist is more known in the countries of Europe, where his several personal exhibitions were held and where a retrospective review is being prepared now. He belongs to the generation of painters who first completed academic education, then learned a lesson of avant-garde trends of the second half of XX c., and as a result, returne to traditional values but in a new 'postmedium' interpretation. The project 'INTROSPECTION' combined several series created by V.Pushnizkiy during the previous two years: Bread and circuses, Light, Boxes of Dreams. In these series photography takes the part of a mediator among techniques used by the author (painting, graphics, work with objects, video-, photo-, and digital technologies). Photography became a basis for installation Boxes of dreams, and for pictorial and graphical series.
