In the history of Russian culture name of Ivan Prokofyev stands in one line with names of his prominent contemporaries and brothers-in-arts such as Fedot Shubin, Mikhail Kozlovsky, Pheodosiy Shchedrin and Ivan Martos.

Though Ivan Prokofyev participated in creating of sculpture decoration for the buildings of Academy of Arts, Tauride Palace, Public Library, the Pavlovsk Palace, St. Michael’s Castle, the Kazan Cathedral etc., now his creative oeuvre is well-known to comparatively narrow circle of viewers and art historians.

The exhibition is accompanied by illustrated catalogue, where the basic part of his artworks is presented. It includes paintings from the collections of “Peterhof” and “Pavlovsk” Museums-Estates, as well as monumental works that were created for decorating of the architecture of Saint-Petersburg and suburban palace-and-park ensembles.
