Cultural and exhibition centres of the Russian Museum

The long-term project «Cultural and exhibition centres of The Russian Museum» is aimed at the creation of a single cultural and information space in Russia, overcoming the dissociation between the museums of the capitals, cities and towns. It provides access for people to cultural values and information resources, using scientific and methodological potential, as well as organizational creativity of The State Russian museum — the largest treasury of Russian art.

The project was prepared in accordance with the Presidential Decree № 597 dated May 7, 2012 «On measures for realization of the state social policy», the foundations of the state cultural policy, and was supported by the College of the Ministry of Culture (by decision of the Board of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation of 28.05.2014).

The Russian Museum, being a methodological base of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, has carried out long-term work in providing methogological assistance to art museums in the country, and has extensive experience in the implementation of inter-museum and interregional projects.

The project «Cultural and exhibition centres of The Russian Museum» brings together all areas of cooperation between The Russian Museum and regional museums, including exhibition and educational activity.

The cultural and Exhibition Centre of The Russian Museum will include permanent exhibition space, IEC «The Russian museum: virtual branch», resource centre of creative development of children with different social and physical abilities. The work program involves conducting off-campus and online lectures, seminars, workshops, organizing activities of museum clubs and creative workshops.

To date, applications have been lodged with The Russian Museum for the opening of 12 cultural and exhibition centres on the basis of existing museums and exhibition sites available in the regions of Russia.

In 2014-2015,. agreements were signed on cooperation on the project «Cultural and Exhibition Centre of The Russian Museum» between The Russian Museum and the Art Museum of Yaroslavl, Samara Regional Art Museum, Tomsk Regional Art Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Murmansk Regional Art Museum.

Also in 2014, the Cooperation Agreement was signed with the Ministry of Culture of the Chelyabinsk region, the City Council of Malaga (Spain), National Gallery of Armenia, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana (Cuba), and in May 2015 — with the National Council of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba.
