The exhibition presents the works of European and Russian art from the collection of Maxim Kocherov who is a well-known Moscow bibliophile and collector. The exposition brings together about 15 significant examples of Old Russia icon-painting and examples of applied art and paintings by the Old European artists, particularly the canvases by representatives of Italian Renaissance and art schools of the German-language region of the 15th - 19th centuries.

In the collection of Maxim Kocherov the group of significant examples of icon-painting (the earliest one is dated second half of the 13th century) is presented. Among them are also the icons of the 15th-18th centuries, including the works, that were created in the icon-painting studio of the Arms Chamber.

The exhibition is dedicated to a hundred-year-old tradition of producing decorative “military plates” depicting imperial army uniforms. Besides plates, the exhibition includes drawings and lithographs that served as sources or preliminary studies for paintings by such famous artists of the “uniform” genre.
