The publication acquaints the Russian experts and lovers of photography with the original collection (over 1000 photos of hands) of one of the most famous collectors-photophilists Henry Buhl (the USA).
The book contains an abridged version of the article by Jennifer Blessing, famous American researcher and curator of photo projects of the Guggenheim Museum. The article is devoted to the photographic art as a mean of documentary confirmation of existence of any phenomena; photograph as the genre of art and Genry Buhl´s principles of forming his collection of hands photographs.
The album contains works from daguerreotypes of the 1840s to the series of the Polaroid photographs of 2002, made by photo artists of different countries, including Russia (G. Klutsis, A. Rodchenko). It traces the development of photographic art for over 150 years.
