20 December 2018—11 March 2019
The Russian Museum has one of the best in Russia collection of headscarves and shawls — silk, brocade, woolen, embroidered and knitted. The exhibition will present more than 600 works of various types of textile art, painting, graphics, decorative and applied art, and more than 30 costumes, including shawls, headscarves, pashminas, and stoles.

Scarves and shawls are not only interesting as a complement to the costume; they also vividly represent the types of traditional art, with original patterns and various methods of hand-made production. These items show the development of both the manufacturing textile industry and various artistic centers of folk art, such as Kolokoltsevo, Orenburg, Vologda, Nizhny Novgorod, Kargopol, and many others, from the 18th century to the beginning of the 21st century.

The exhibition is supported by PAO Severstal, PAO Power MachinesNordgold companyTUI tourist company

30 paintings from the life of Peter the Great

9 June 2022—9 August 2022

The exhibition “30 paintings from the life of Peter the Great” is taking place on the Field of Mars in Saint Petersburg. The project is a reconstruction of an exhibit that was held 150 years ago at the same location and is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the first Russian emperor. Fourteen original paintings from the 1872 exhibition were discovered in the State Russian Museum’s funds. They were digitally restored and will be exhibited in the form of outstanding quality canvas prints. The honour to fill the gaps and create modern interpretations of the same historical subjects was granted to the students, alumni and professors of Saint-Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts.
