An exhibition named «Revolution. From Chagall to Malevich, from Repin to Kandinsky» continues to work at the «Russian Seasons» festival in Italy (REVOLUTIJA. Da Chagall a Malevich, da Repin a Kandinsky).

This exciting and unparalleled exhibition revealing the heady days of revolution is offered to the Italian and foreign public for the first time. More than 70 paintings created by famous artists are presented at the exhibition: Nathan Altman, Natalya Goncharova, Kazimir Malevich, Vasily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Valentin Serov, Alexander Rodchenko and many others; the paintings demonstrate the innovativeness of cultural currents in Russia in the early 20th century: from primitivism to cubo-futurism and from suprematism to constructivism. It is worth emphasizing that the Russian Museum is presenting its greatest exhibits to the Italian public, including the ‘Black Square’ by Malevich, ‘Merchant’s Wife at Tea’ by Kustodiev, ‘Portrait of Anna Akhmatova’ by Nathan Altman, and the famous ‘Walk’ by Marc Chagall. Besides, the exposition includes historic photos, archival footage, and theatrical costumes.

The main goal of the exhibition is to present the major events from the Russian history of the first third of the 20th century from various, often dramatically different perspectives of the artists as well as to draw attention to masterpieces created by Russian artists who are less known by the international audience, such as Repin, Petrov-Vodkin and Mashkov.

The exhibition «REVOLUTION. From Chagall to Malevich, from Repin to Kandinsky. Masterpieces from the collection of the State Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg» is being held till May 13, 2018 in the Modern Art Museum of Bologna (MAMbo).
