About the exhibition

The State Russian Museum is the only museum in Russia featuring a permanent display of classic world art from the second half of the 20th century. In 1994–1995, the renowned German collectors Peter and Irene Ludwig, motivated by their deep interest in Russian culture, donated to the State Russian Museum a collection comprising works by major artists including Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, George Segal, James Rosenquist, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Anselm Kiefer, Jörg Immendorff, Jonathan Borofsky, Jeff Koons, Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, and others.
