The Russian Museum Opens Exhibition of Ilya Repin’s Masterpiece Sadko in Petrozavodsk

As part of the “Museum Pearls of the Silver Necklace” project, an exhibition of Ilya Repin’s celebrated masterpiece Sadko (1876) from the Russian Museum’s collection has opened at the Kizhi Museum’s Presentation and Exhibition Centre in Petrozavodsk. The exhibition is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Kizhi Museum.

From 7 October 2025 to 2 June 2026, the Russian Museum, as part of its National School of Restoration project, launched its first-ever general education programme “Preventive Conservation and Restoration of Museum Objects”. This programme was for students sponsored by the Gazprom Cultural Initiatives Support Foundation under the Gazprom project “Friends of St Petersburg”.

Exhibition Circus by G.A.V. Traugot Opens at the Russian Museum

A large-scale exhibition Circus by G.A.V. Traugot has opened at the Russian Museum’s Centre for Arts and Technologies. The exhibition features over 200 works by the Traugot family of artists dedicated to the circus: drawings of the Leningrad Circus from the 1940s, porcelain figurines, unpublished linocuts Funny Clowns, unique sketches for Samuil Marshak’s book Circus, drawings of Parisian street circus performances and numerous book illustrations. Most of the works have never been shown in exhibitions before.

A formal ceremony was held in the Folk Art rooms of the Mikhailovsky Palace at the Russian Museum, during which representatives of the Krestetskaya Strochka factory donated two unique works to the museum’s collection: the technically complex panel Order of Victory and an Apron-ponyova.

Glass and Stone Exhibition Opens at the Russian Museum’s Stroganov Palace

A new exhibition bringing together geology and art has opened at the Stroganov Palace, with the support of the Magnesit Group and the Sobranie Foundation. Approximately 100 exhibits are on display across the Neva Enfilade halls on the first floor and in the courtyard of the Stroganov Palace, including rare mineral specimens and glass artworks.

Minsk hosted the Russian Museum Days – an event of unprecedented scale

From 8 to 10 April, the Russian Museum Days took place in Minsk, never before held on such a large scale. Senior officials and leading specialists of the Russian Museum prepared an extensive programme covering all areas of museum activities: academic research, exhibitions, restoration, inclusion programmes, guided tours, multimedia, the Youth Council, and educational programmes.
