The Friends of the Russian Museum International Society
The Friends of the Russian Museum International Society was founded on 19 March 1997. Nowadays the society includes over 400 individuals, 130 firms and organizations. The Friends of the Russian Museum society unites all those who really help the State Russian Museum and contributes to preserving the cultural heritage of the country.
The society members participate in the life of the Russian Museum, providing financial, technical, and organizational assistance for realization the Museum’s programmes and projects. With the help of the society many Museum projects — academic, restoration, exhibition, and educational — are realized.
Besides, the Friends of the Russian Museum society members provide various kinds of services for organization and holding of the Museum undertakings.
Honorary members of the society are Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of St Petersburg, and others

| Anyone can become the member of the Society who donated to the Museum an especially valuable object (painting, sculpture, equipment facilitating infrastructure, and the like). |
The society members get discounts on the Museum entrance fees and on the exhibition catalogues. They can also take part in special events, organized exclusively for the society members in the Palaces of the Russian Museum in St Petersburg.
In December 2000 the Friends of the Russian Museum Foundation for the Development of the State Russian Museum was established. It has a Board of Trustees, formed in order to revive traditions of patronage and charity, as well as to increase the efficiency of the Russian Museum activities on drawing off-budget, charity and investment means.
